EDUCATION
Northern Alberta Xtreme proudly partners with Black Gold School District, fostering a dynamic academic environment for its student athletes. Our student athletes are enrolled in either Riverview Middle School or John Maland High School, benefiting from the dedication and support of our esteemed educators who seamlessly integrate into our team, ensuring academic excellence for all.
What to Expect
Joining NAX requires a demonstration of academic independence, ambition, and the ability to cultivate academic maturity. Once welcomed into the NAX family, students receive comprehensive support from the school, teachers, director of academics, and academic liaison to establish a robust foundation.
Personalized academic planning is a cornerstone of the NAX experience. Collaborating with the director of academics, students craft tailored 3- or 4-year academic plans, balancing their academic aspirations with their athletic pursuits. This includes navigating different provincial curriculums and effectively managing the reduction of class time as athletes progress through various levels of competition.
A commitment to academic success is reinforced by our dedicated teachers and staff through various avenues of support. Mandatory daily study halls are implemented during team travels to ensure academic continuity. Moreover, in instances where the team is away from school for two days or more, a dedicated teacher accompanies them, providing support and instruction to prevent any academic setbacks. This proactive approach aims to ensure that student athletes remain on track with their coursework, even when away from the traditional classroom setting
